HC Rotterdam has a fun and ambitious youth academy. We not only look at the best performances, but we pay particular attention to the development of the players and the teams. Our goal is to be able to "deliver" a number of youth players to our first teams every year. This doesn't just happen. Players will have to work hard for this together with the trainers and coaches. We also keep a close eye on the balance between Hockey-School-Physical load and FUN.
In principle, youth players from outside can only join our top youth teams in the first teams (boys-girls D1/C1/B1/A1), where additional requirements may apply per line. In addition to looking at age category (are you 1st or 2nd year), you must be able to compete with the “top three players” / “best player in a line”, be very good both technically and in terms of game insight and have added value for the team!
Selection process lateral entry HC Rotterdam top youth
A and B categories1. Depending on your age category and in which line there is a need for reinforcement, you may or may not be invited to train with the first-line team in the line you are currently in. You will receive the exact date and time by email.
2. If we see potential in you, you will be invited to train a second time. This way, current trainers and coaches can get a good idea of you and they can estimate how you compare to the players who already play in your line at HC Rotterdam.
3. If the trainers and coaches are of the opinion that you are a real asset to the line in which you may play, you will then be allowed to participate in our selection training at the beginning of June. Only after this selection training will you be told whether you will be part of the team for next season.
C and D categories1. HC Rotterdam does not have selection training for the Top Youth C and D. You will be invited to a training with one of the current top teams.
2. If we see potential in you, and you can immediately measure yourself against the "top three players" / "best player in a line", then you will be invited to train a few more times with the first-line team in the line in which you are now This way, current trainers and coaches can get a good idea of you and they can estimate how you compare to the players who already play in your line at HC Rotterdam.
3. If the trainers and coaches believe that you are a real asset in your age category, you will then be allowed to participate in our selection training at the beginning of June. Only after this selection training will you be told whether you will be part of the team for the next season.
